Sen. Robinhood “Robin” C. Padilla wore an Onesimus slim-fit, full-button barong made of pina silk for the opening of the Senate session on July 22, Monday.
For the SONA this afternoon, Sen. Padilla is expected to wear a barong made in Camarines Norte (Formosa Manos). The design was especially made for SRP to reflect his personality.
The Islamic arch reflects his religion while the Bantayog (MORGA) represents the province of Camarines Norte.
Embroidered by Rosalinda Villegas, the barong’s material include handwoven pineapple cloth made from manually hand scrape Formosa pineapple leaves as weave, and silk yarn as wrap. The barong is weaved by LPMPC weavers headed by Nancy Ramirez as senior weaver of Labo Progressive Multi Purpose Cooperative.
